Jan Stavek’s mystery (Does he add any herbs to the wine?)

07.10.2008

In the very first week after we had put our Wine-tours.cz on the market, we were proud to make a private wine tour for a group of friends in English, as there were Canadian and British citizens among them. The excursion at Jan Stavek’s Winery was voted the best part of the tour.

A client coming from Ireland without any previous experience with wine went on a private wine tour a few weeks ago. Where do you think we finished the tour late enough missing our plans for the evening? Of course, Nemcicky is the correct answer. The Irish client was excited about the tour and spent the whole evening tasting fantastic wines.

Among other visitors there was a group of international journalists temporarily working in South Moravia. They were invited by the government agency CzechTourism which is responsible for promoting the Czech Republic as an attractive destination for tourists. The agency asked us to find an excellent winemaker, who journalists could visit in the evening as they wanted to learn more about Moravian wines and viticulture. It was Jan Stavek’s pleasure to answer their questions and provide them with great wines and some cold dishes. We are happy that the journalists voted that visit was the highlight of their four-day-long full-time programme in the Czech Republic.

If you are an English speaking visitor of South Moravia, you have now the best chance to find out why everyone is so excited visiting this winery, which is neither big nor medium size producer of wine by far. And why everyone likes its owner, who is still working on his PhD. thesis on viticulture, who will do his best to explain everything in English, and who “spoils” most of his wines by adding brandy before they are done, making them too sweet to drink.

Just let us know when you would like to visit Nemcicky. Let’s find out what this magic is all about together!
