You won’t see his wines in shops or at the big wine shows – so you must come to a local wine tasting instead if you want to taste his wines. Nevertheless, wine lovers from all over the Czech Republic, and from abroad, come to Bohumil’s cellar. Bohumil’s family has owned vineyards continuously since 1793. Bohumil himself is a passionate huntsman and a modest and calm man. But when he talks about wine he can talk for hours.

Wine and vineyards

You can’t buy wine straight from the barrel or tank in Bohumil’s cellar – you can only taste it, when it is young. He bottles all his wines and most of them are in the category “late harvest” or higher. He produces the wines in a classical way, without using artificial yeast, in order to preserve its typical taste and bouquet. Besides well-known varieties, you can also taste lesser-known wines e.g. Dornfelder or Cabernet Moravia, which has been cultivated by Mr. Glos in neighbouring Moravská Nová Ves.

Cellar

The cellar which is used for wine maturation and bottling is situated directly in the wine cellar lane in Hrušky. There is a small room above the cellar which is excellent for smaller groups of people who would like to taste delicious wines. However, it isn’t suitable for larger celebrations or parties. It is possible to make a fire in the fireplace when it gets colder.

Usual programme

The programme consists of four to five hours of wine tasting. The winemaker seats his guests at the tables which are full of plates of ham, cheese and other savoury specialities, plus some sweet things too. He pours the first glass and introduces himself and his vineyards. Then he introduces all his products, beginning with white wines and continuing with reds, moving from less aromatic to more aromatic, and at the end he offers something special. He describes all his wines (at least fifteen of them). It is possible to enrich the programme by ordering local culinary and game specialities. The price for the event will be the same, but it is necessary to order in advance.

Our notes

Hrušky is located on the Slovak border close to the D2 highway exit – the journey from Brno takes 40 minutes.
We can arrange transport by bus for groups from Brno, the rest of the Czech Republic and even other countries, at favourable rates.
You can give the usual programme, of wine tasting and the presentation, to your business partners or employees as a favour or reward. We can prepare a gift certificate too.
It is possible to use the cellar for business meetings or short seminars, and then end the event with a shorter pleasant wine tasting.
The place is not suitable for private celebrations. Besides corporate events, groups of wine lovers, friends and family groups with a serious interest in wine are welcomed too.
